Does your child have an IEP?
Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are written by the public school system to help provide services to your child in the least restrictive education environment. Because of our holistic approach, the accommodations listed in your child’s IEP may not be needed in our school environment. For instance, students can take as long as they want to complete a project, so they do not need extra time or an adjusted grading scale at our school. Nevertheless, an IEP may be useful to understand your child’s needs.
Please note: Children enrolled at Gastonia Freedom School waive certain rights and may no longer be eligible for free special education services offered through Gaston County Schools. Parents are also not able to appeal to the school board for specific accommodations. While Gastonia Freedom School is dedicated to providing high quality services from private providers, we urge you to consider the impact of removing your child from their current educational environment before enrolling.
